Life is full of ups and downs, happiness and sadness. It's so hard to understand why there is a lack of compassion in the world. How do we forget so soon that the journey isn't so easy for us? There are those moments when no one is around and you shed a tear or two. There are times when you hide in the shower and cry, sit in the car and scream, beg and plead with God to make it end. The sun doesn't shine on us everyday we need rain for nutrients as well. How else are we to grow?. So why is it so easy to forget that this journey gets bumpy, lonely, and devastating for the person that just cut you off before the traffic light, the person that messed up your lunch order, and even your family, friends, and employees.

Whether it's home school, public, or private...Play hard, study harder
There is a whole world of knowledge hidden within books.
It's been a minute since I've blogged. I kind of took a hiatus to build Beautifully Edited LLC. If you are unfamiliar with Beautifully Edited, then let me introduce you. Beautifully Edited is the name of an editing and writing service company, a remote call center, and the parent company of podcast Coffee & Convo Houston. However, Beautifully Edited LLC is more than wielding words, it's my way of life. I am Rosliand 'RE ReadyforPeace' Strickland and Beautifully Edited is my story.
Writing and storytelling has been a hobby as far back as I can remember. In middle school writing was what I did to pass the time away, until one day a short story I was heavily developing was stolen. At that moment, I realized that people were interested and was willing to steal to get a glimpse of my world. Unfortunately, this was not the aha moment. This was the fuel needed to keep writing.
Many years, pains, and heartbreaks later I found myself being consoled by my writing, my experiences being jotted down and analyzed over the years had taught me various perceptions of life giving me a wide understanding of life events and how to navigate. After two devastatingly failed marriages, unemployment, homelessness, and a family to support, I sought out ways to bring a way of having work, a life that gave balance, and that helped others in similar situations. At that moment in 2018 Beautifully Edited LLC was founded; a company designed to share my life experiences, my passion for writing, and my desire to help others.

Like many of us applying for work, knowing the stress of having to pay bills, babies needing special necessities, car troubles; the last thought we have is whether or not the companies employees practice good old-fashion niceties. You get hired and BAM! Whether its your rest in me face, nonchalant demeanor, or your go-get-it attitude climbing that corporate ladder starts to look gloomy.
Office politics can be either a positive or negative influence on your career as an employee or a business owner. Office politics is all about networking and how you conduct yourself and how you go about handling your business...in and out of the office. Remember you are "networking" at all times.
At this point, the only thing you want is to learn what they are teaching you as quickly as possible so you may bury yourself in work. Having yet to shake off the horrific start to a what was supposed to be perfect morning, your immediate manager is a "do as I say manager" and micro-manages your every keystroke. Now hey, to be realistic, most of us are parents and this approach works well for children under the age of five, however, as an adult this typically causes plenty of conflict. It is understandable if this style is utilized in severe circumstances with inexperienced and/or new team members and there's no time to wait.
You may be faced with the company culture that doesn’t align with your values. Before you know it, you are watching the clock for that fifteen minute break to clear your mind and center yourself. Grab you a fresh cup of java or tea and distress as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, distressing does not happen for you and your entire day crashes in a downward spiral to a pit of " I need a change". Working for another company will present the same situations, attempting to meet the approvals of management to climb that corporate ladder. It's inevitable, you won't get along with everyone and everyone will not get along with you. However, if you have to deal with negative personalities, why not do it while doing what you love and where you want to do it from, home.
Self Employment is one of the best options we have in life. Even when it comes to the politics, because its networking. But of course, you should avoid negative politics whenever possible, if you are like most people, you keep your head down and exercise a little control with your emotions. After all, there is one common goal in life; continuous revenue. And many of us outright need it. Trust me companies are not built to keep anyone from advancing in life, they were built to provide services, provide products, provide employment, and increase revenue for all parties involved, and individual peace of mind.
In everything, we do communication is key to convey your perspective. This includes listening and hearing. Verbal and non-verbal. Communication is a two-way street and knowing how to efficiently navigate on these streets there is basic knowledge needed. Take a listen to the Coffee and Convo panel as they discuss the ins and outs of communication 101.

Play hard, hustle harder. Job security within a brick and mortar company or signing over a few years with your military was once the tradition. Gig careers or freelancing is now rapidly becoming all the rage.
Growing up my mother was adamant about me securing my future by employing with a stable established company. The thought of working for myself was considered a dream and dreams did not pay the bills. It was far more likely to be gainfully employed by means of the dreams of another rather my own. This is the mentality that chain passions instead of igniting innovations. Is it possible to fulfill your greatest potential under the "security" of employment? Well, in my opinion, it is possible if your greatest potential is to wait for retirement age of 65 and a promise of monthly social security checks.
Promises are much like opinions, we all have them and few carry any weight. No one knows what the future truly holds for our lives, the value of money nor the state of our economy. So why not take matters into your own hands and plan for the future, whatever that may be, that you want. I am not saying employment with a brick and mortar company is a fatality, I am saying be a smarter hustler and play the hand you have been dealt. Work a brick and mortar if that's what you need, but hustle your passion to create a financial future you can breathe freely with.
Make It Work
As a freelancer you have the ability to work for what you believe your services are worth versus what someone else tells you your talents are worth. In this method, you control your income, your schedule, your clients, use of your passion, and your integrity. What does if profit anyone to building someone else's wealth and dreams and forget about their own?
Despite the challenges, it is not all doom and gloom as a freelancer. To do this successfully, it is crucial to work smart and practice financial prudence. Invest in your future, build your brand, save for taxes, invest in your future. Ask yourself, if corporate life were to crash today, how would you survive and provide for your family?
Change the traditional ways of thinking...brick and mortar are not as secure as we were lead to believe. Stock markets crash, companies close doors, people change their spending habits, and nothing is guaranteed to be here in the future.

Dreaming of a world were everyone helps everyone? A world were harmony comes in the form of more than the latest bedroom boom.
Everything we do is revolved around people. Our innovations come together to bring ease life for someone in a daunting world. Whether it's a story of someone close to you or someone you know, our passion to find answers, resolve a problem or ease the pain, we create for people.
Coming together makes us stronger. Providing services, products, coaching, and guidance to one another builds communities. When was the last time you were available to help a neighbor plan a garage sale, a block party, a backyard bar-b-que to raise money for someone in need?
What if?
What if you were amazing at sewing and your neighbor was wonderful at design, while another neighbor down the way was superior organizing events, couldn't each one of you work together to build each others dreams. Work in harmony to achieve a collective goal...harmonious living. Working well with others make the world go round. Relationships go a long way.
We shouldn't have to wait for Thanksgiving to come around to spend time with loved ones and enjoy a fine meal. Make more time for family...it's possible.
Silently suffering internally and physically while everyone looking in thinks all is well and how blessed the family must be. Envying a life unseen. Misery and fear paint the halls within.
We don't need more statistics to review or any more money to advertise domestic violence, what is needed is more programs to help out. There's a need for more people to help develop more facilities to house survivors and resources to help support transitions from a bad environment to an environment of growth. What is needed is more work opportunities for less than skilled individuals and training to advance.
Without a caring family there is no telling where I would be now and my goal is to help guide and educate others. I'm a survivor not a victim.
Domestic violence is an epidemic affecting individuals in every community regardless of age, economic status, sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, or nationality. Domestic violence is the willful intimidation, physical assault, battery, sexual assault, and/or other abusive behavior used against another. Domestic violence can result in physical injury, psychological trauma, and in severe cases, even death.
Some would rather remain in the situation rather escape out of fear of not being able to provide for self and family or afraid of being tracked down and something worse occurs. I am here to tell you, sometimes fear is the greater motivator to remove yourself from the situation and provisions will always present themselves. Survival is not a respecter of persons.

Game On
Who's going to take the Super Bowl title this year?
We are all guilty of not doing unless we gain something of importance or value from the action, even labeling and voicing opinions on someone's lifestyle or actions. These are actions of being self-serving and judgmental; don't misunderstand, there is righteous judgment and unrighteous judgment. There is also a time to help and a time not to help. Listen to the panel of Coffee & Convo as they discuss their views of this topic.

Love is supposed to be a daily year round action whether its your spouse, your child, your sibling, or the nosey neighbor next door. People spend money on this one day a year buying chocolates, roses, teddy bears, and everything else imaginable to show how much they love their mate. What about the rest of the year? This is an appreciation day for the chocolate makers, restaurant owners, and jewelry stores. What if we spent everyday of the year not taking our partners for granted; say I apologize more, help with chores, ask how their day was, cuddle and watch a movie, cook a meal together. How would that make out for the day of love?
